Yes!

All of Pittsburgh is sleeping in today, apparently.

All the schools are starting late; it's not the snow, I believe; I'm told that the bus drivers were expected to have hangovers, and unable to drive the little children around -- the two hour delay had already been announced, long before the snow arrived. Pittsburgh takes its sports seriously. The hell with jobs and all that stuff.

After the game, we turned to the local news, cause we wanted to see footage from the South Side, which was just what we expected -- the streets were packed with screaming people running around in the snow with their shirts off. I looked for my students, but I didn't see any; I know they were there, though. NO learning going on today, I bet, anywhere in Pittsburgh.

What was especially touching, to me, was that the same thing was going around out here in the suburbs, only on a smaller scale. Neighbors running up and down the street screaming, sans coats. Much lonelier, though; at least in the South Side one would be in a crowd. Out here, in Inglefield Estates, there was more room to maneuver.

Anyway. Now that's over, we'll return to our regular blogging soon.
