Time for the Snip-n-Tuck, guys!
All those of you who have been clamoring for kitten pictures may now have your fix. Behold! The kittens, now about 5 1/2 months old:

Dara, the brother, is in the front; Chanthra, the sister, is behind.
Also, for those of you who enjoy seeing Lila miffed by their very existence, here she is, trying to eat her breakfast without them. In this case, Sam as kindly given the kittens little treats, so they leave her alone:

As you can see, they're nearly her size now.
And on Thursday morning, they're going in to the vet's, to have their little operations.
And it's about damn time, too. We had notices from the vet telling us that they were due for surgery on February 6. I called and said, can we do this earlier, since they are after all Siamese cats, and reach sexual maturity sooner than other cats? They said sure, no prob, and set us up for what will be, as I mentioned above, Thursday.
And then on Saturday Chanthra started propelling herself across the floor on her ear, whilst yowling.
Right.
This was both amusing and annoying yesterday, during the Excellent Holy and Sacred Game of Our People. Amusing when nothing much was going on. Annoying when there was hoopla and touchdowns.
Now my concern here was, will her hormone surge in any way affect Dara's hormone development, cause if so things could get Pretty Damn Interesting before Thursday, and we maybe want to get them in earlier.
But I see, by Googling, which is how I get most of my information, that the males lag behind the females, for which we are grateful.
(Sam and I were discussing all this and the child, who overheard us, called out to tell us that Dara didn't seem interested in Chanthra at the moment; she was howling and he was biting her neck to try and get her to stop. Right.)
Anyway, we're living in the middle of a wildlife movie at the moment, but things should calm down soon.
Thursday afternoon, in fact, which should be Real Quiet.
And when we get together for the Superbowl (The Bus is going home!), we won't be yelling "get a room!" at the cats.
Lila, as usual, is just plain miffed. They eat her food, they follow her around, they bat her tail, and now they're having Dramatics all over the house. What a pain.

Update: It's probably not the bestest greatest thing in the world, that the kittens have now discovered that if you actually knock the birdcage over, you can get the budgies out.
Nobody's dead, nobody's injured. The birdcage isn't quite as cute as it was before it went over. Also, the kittens are now, pretty clearly, Thinking. Damn.
