Lords of the Fly
The kittens, fierce and mighty hunters though young, had a major triumph last night; they caught a fly.
The elder cat Lila and I had to hunker down during the process; we had gone to bed when the kittens discovered the fly, and until they caught it, life was not restful.
Single-minded kittens, that's what they were. They paid no mind to me, to Lila, to the lamps, to the breakables, to the furniture, to the curtains. Single-minded pursuit of the fly. Much running. Lots of jumping.
Every one in a while they managed to whack it, which would slow it down some; eventually I guess its discombobulation slowed it down enough that they could catch it. Then they ate it.
Well, not much got broken, and they were certainly proud of themselves, and I imagine there was a bit of protein in the fly, so all was well.
Chanthra has taken to sitting on my shoulder while I'm at the computer, so she's here now. Darling beasts.
We're looking forward to the whole Christmas tree project; surely two Siamese kittens can figure out a bunch of things to do with a Christmas tree. Excellent jumping-off platform during fly pursuit, for one thing.
