In Which I Behave Myself and Answer the Questions

Engineer Anonymous tapped me more than a week ago for the book meme, and I answered it not, but now I will. I was sorta distracted there for a while by the Bad Essay and the Bad Art. Took a lot out of me.

But as for the meme:

You're stuck inside Fahrenheit 451. Which book do you want to be?

I'm not clear as to the import of this question. Am I one of the books that gets burnt up and lost, or do I get memorized at the end? If I'm burnt up and no one remembers me, I'll be the manuscript of the trial of Joan of Arc, as that seems suitably tragic (on account of the lost history and the dead girl, both) AND thematic (on account of the fire). If somebody's memorizing me at the end, I'll be Ciaran Carson's First Language, please. THAT'll keep 'em busy. Also, I will be discussed for YEARS. Make sure whoever it is can read Irish, please.

Have you ever had a crush on a fictional character?

Yes.

The last book you bought is?

Just heard from amazon.com that a copy of The Mabinogion is on the way.

What are you currently reading?

Le Morte Darthur, The Gift of our Compulsions, The Price of Salt. Oh, and Don Quixote -- I left it downstairs and forgot about it.

Five books you would take to a deserted island:

The Riverside Chaucer, The Riverside Shakespeare, The Norton Anthology of English Literature, Vol. I, The Norton Anthology of English Literature, Vol II, SAS Jungle Survival. (No surprises here! Just telling the truth.)

Who will you pass this on to (3 people) and why?

I will pass this on to Laci and Meredith, cause neither of them owes me a paper at the moment, and I don't owe either one of them a grade. Hence, we have fairness and lack of evil manipulation.

I know that's only two. But I was pretty well behaved, up to the end there.

AND! I didn't make anything up, to do which I was sorely tempted.
