In Which We Are Shocked To Discover Some Knitting Content
Let us discuss knitting tools. Specifically, let us discuss the Chibi. Even more specifically, let us discuss this Chibi.
Did you go look?
No, no, really, go look. I'll wait here.
Ok, now you're back, let us continue. Those of us who don't keep up with the wild and wonderful world of knitting accessories might not be familiar with the Chibi. What, you might be asking, is a damn Chibi, after all?*
Well, if you carefully read the eBay description of the item for sale, you'll see that it's a set of darning needles. Gold-plated.
Now, darning needles are very important -- they're blunt-tipped, so that whilst sewing your knitted goods together you split not the yarn in the fabric. You use blunt-tipped needles while committing needlepoint, and most forms of cross-stitch, for the same reason. Splitting not the fabric. And these have a bend, so that one can retrieve them from out of the fabric, which has after all been knit out of yarn, more easily.
So, that makes sense. And the gold-plating, far from being an extravagant form of consumer consumption, also makes sense, as it doesn't just make the needles more seemly, it also keeps them from rusting.
Ok, fair enough.
And in this case they've all been housed in a cute little case.
Fine.
But wait, you may say. I still don't understand! How expensive IS knitting? Do I have to pay more than $50 for a few needles, even if they ARE gold-plated and stuck into a cute little plastic case?
No, hon, you don't.
Wait! Wait! I just clicked on that link, and I think it said I could buy the Chibi needles, in a perfectly darling case, for $4.15! Let me go back and check again. Yes! That's what it says! Please explain.
Well, see, the reason that the Chibi on sale over at eBay at the moment has gone up over $50 is that the case is pink. And though it's possible to buy the pink case, it's harder to find right now, cause the factory has moved on to other colors.
Oh. Well, does that matter?
Well, it does if you want the pink case.
Do I want the pink case?
Well, I don't, on account of it looks....well...sorta....well...........Oh, let's just say that the case in aqua is less connected, metaphorically, to a certain piece of the human anatomy found in about half the population. Not that there's anything wrong with that. But if you just gotta have the pink case, you've got a few more hours to snipe it on eBay.
Or you can bid on this one -- a bargain, at the moment, at $39!. Or this, or this -- both holding steady, so far, at $31.00.
Hey. While we're at it, how are the Alice Starmore goods doing over there? Yep. Thought so.

*Do not EVEN start in on the whole anime issue. We're discussing knitting needles. I do NOT want to hear about Chibi Moon.
