In Which We Discuss My iPod and Joni Mitchell and Knitting is Not Mentioned At All
I'm in the middle of a Joni Mitchell marathon on my iPod -- you know, play all the songs by one artist, for as long as it takes, which so far has been two commutes and three treadmill sessions -- and I noticed that there are 153 Joni Mitchell songs on my iPod, which seems to me to be sorta excessive.
Also it caused me to wonder about other artists. Were there others with that many songs on my iPod? Melissa Ethridge? Nope. 84. k.d. lang? Nope. 76.
So I had to go do some research. Yes. The Joni Mitchell total is excessive. Nobody else comes close. There's Bonnie Raitt, with 73; The Bothy Band, with 63; Bruce Springsteen, 66; Clannad, 54; Dar Williams, 47; Enya, 50; Indigo Girls, 47; Jackson Browne, 63; Janis Ian, 56; The Pogues, 63; Warren Zevon, 68.
153 Joni Mitchell songs. This means something, I suppose. What, though, I do not know, except that the Joni Mitchell marathon is apparently going to last a while.
Sam and I were trying to list all the languages on the iPod -- English, of course. Middle English. Irish. Welsh. Scots Gaelic. Latin. French. Italian. Tibetan. Catalan. Spanish. Breton. German. Finnish. Turkish. Arabic. Portugese. Armenian. We can't think of any others. We're in the market now for some Manx, because we notice we haven't any.
But we think we have enough Joni Mitchell.
