In Which I am Challenged and Rise to the Occasion

This will be a short blog today -- I'm off to sit on the sofa and write academic stuff -- but one of my beloved fellow bloggers (yay! pictures of Wales!) has challenged me, so I have to respond. I'm touched by her faith in me. She's so trusting that I have an interesting little life. Not.

Here, then, my answers to the five questions:

1) What is the total amount of music files on your computer? 18.1 GB.

2) The CD you last bought is? Hasmik Houvsepian, self-titled album. Oh, my. Kick-butt oud playing from a young woman at the start of her career. Thanks, Dad, for the reference.

3) What is the song you last listened to before receiving this message? "Every Little Bit," from Patti Griffin's Living With Ghosts.

4) Write down 5 songs you often listen to or that mean a lot to you: (just FIVE?) Dar Williams, "What Do You Love More Than Love"; Steve Earle, "Telephone Road"; Richard Thompson, "Persuasion"; Indigo Girls, "Dairy Queen"; The Pogues, "The Broad Majestic Shannon."

5) Who are you going to pass this on to, and why? Oh, I do believe I'll bother Amber. There are a great many fellow bloggers I enjoy and count as dear cyber friends. But Amber's the only other blogger I know who was thinking about buying a hearse as a family car, at the same time I was. Look out.

And in exchange, Amber, since on the 11th of January you challenged your readers to

find something in YOUR OWN HOME -- perhaps part of, or augmenting, a "collection" that means something to you personally, that you find not only "unique" and "decorative", but USEFUL. extra points if, upon entering your home and seeing it, no one has ever EVER said to you "oh wow, i saw that in the pottery barn catalog! cool!"

I'll tell you that I have, in my bedroom, a decoupaged cabinet made for me by a friend when I left San Francisco -- so that I wouldn't forget San Francisco -- like, who could -- covered with pictures of angels and anarchists. Certainly it is unique, as there is no other. It is extraordinarily decorative, with LOTS of color. It is useful, as it holds things, and will indeed hold your Knitting Tarot, when you send it to me. And God knows, nobody's ever seen it in the pottery barn catalog.

I'm ready for my extra points, please.
