Peachy and Seagull
Oh, how I love to knit up Colinette stuff! The "Love It" jacket is about to get its sleeves put on -- that's what happens if you're being knit up on size 9 needles. You don't mess around. You get done fast.
Then, when that's wearable and done, I'll go back to one of the fiddly projects.
It's time, though, to figure out what my at work knitting project is. Socks? Yet another Colinette artifact? It needs to be mindless enough to take to meetings, and small enough to not take up much space. Socks. Yes. That's it.
I was wrong about the child's earthworms, by the way; they're named Peachy and Seagull (a literary allusion), not Peaches and Sparky. So I told him I'd correct the mistake -- and have, as you see -- but I have to say that quite frankly, I don't think it matters much. They're never going to come when they're called.
The child himself is upstairs at the moment, being herded, by his dad, into Getting Rid of Some Things and Putting Some Other Stuff Away.
I'm going to tackle the books later. Poor child.
Oh, wait, once again I had things wrong. I thought he was upstairs cleaning, but it turns out he was upstairs building yet more stuff out of Legos, as I know because he just came down here to show me the creations. They're meant to decorate his birthday cake, when he turns 8 next week. I bet when I go upstairs I'll find Sam putting things in boxes. Just a sec; let's see....
Nope, I was wrong again. The living room's clean.
And now the child, who got all energized by the cleaning project, has come downstairs to show me a book he can give away, on account of it's suitable for toddlers. "It will encourage them to read," he says.
Yeah, well, my experience is, that only leads to grief. I just don't know if I want to encourage it. (Have I told you yet that at this point, besides all the books all over the house, we rent TWO storage facilities, both full of books?)
I'll see you later -- I'm going to go upstairs now and model, for the child, how to Get Rid Of Even More Things.
After that, I'm going to get my hair cut. I need to be at my best for Monday, when I have to earn some more of my paycheck, by encouraging students to read.
Wait.....
